What’s the story behind the Chelsea Hobson brand? What was your inspiration and how did you get started in your different areas of business?
I have always loved clothing and makeup and up until this year, I spent tons of money elsewhere until I realized I could make my very own business out of doing what I love. I have been a photographer for 8 years now, so I love using that to my advantage to stand out in the social media crowd!
Three words that describe what you do:
What’s the smartest business decision you’ve ever made?
The smartest business decision I’ve ever made would be leaving my corporate job and taking a risk on myself so many years ago. You never know how high you can fly until you learn to let go, and I did just that!
What has been your experience with failure and success?
Before Agnes & Dora I was with another company whose name I won’t mention. But I’d have to chalk my two years up with them as a very high risk learning curve. I won’t say failure, that business fed my family and then some. But I learned a lot about myself and the company and how NOT to run my business. As far as success, I’ve learned that when you let go and be YOU, your people will follow you. Your people will come out of the wood work and cheer you on. The quality customers and tribe that you’re searching for, will come when you let go of what you think you should be doing and just do you.
Advice you would give to your younger self:
Don’t accept no for an answer, but also learn to let things go when you feel they aren’t right.
You are worthy of wanting something more – Rachel Hollis
What advice do you have for young women who want to follow their passion but aren’t sure how to get there?
Keep going. Do your research. Do the work. Don’t give up.
Who is your role model/mentor?
I really adore Jenna Kutcher!
What’s next for you?
Lots more trendy outfits and makeup selfies, hopefully! 😉
